Community Builds
BeginnerCommunity Builds is a built-in gallery where Buildopia players can share what they've made and load each other's creations directly into their own editor. You can open it from the Community button in the top bar, or from the Community Builds item in the main menu.
Browsing Builds
The Browse tab shows a scrolling grid of publicly shared builds, each with a thumbnail, a title, and the creator's name (or "Anonymous" if they chose not to share it).
Two sort options let you find what you're looking for:
| Sort | Shows |
|---|---|
| Newest | Builds sorted by upload date, most recent first. Good for seeing what people are currently working on. |
| Most Liked | Builds sorted by how many likes they've received. Good for finding the most popular and most polished examples in the community. |
Tap Load more at the bottom of the grid to fetch additional pages of results. Buildopia loads builds in batches rather than all at once, so the initial view loads quickly even if the gallery is large.
Build of the Week
At the very top of the Browse tab, above the sort controls and the main grid, a single pinned card is highlighted with a gold border and a 🏆 trophy icon. This is the Build of the Week — a community-selected or curator-chosen build that exemplifies quality, creativity, or technique. It stays pinned for the week regardless of sort order, so it's always the first thing you see when you open the gallery.
The Build of the Week card works exactly like any other card — you can like it, load it, and copy a shareable link. It just won't scroll away or be displaced by newer uploads while it's active.
Community Build Tags
Every build in the gallery can have one or more tags applied to it from nine categories. Tags appear on each card as small labels and give you a fast way to find builds of a particular type without scrolling through the whole gallery.
A tag filter strip runs across the top of the Browse tab, below the sort controls. Tap any tag in the strip to filter the gallery to only builds that carry that tag. Tapping the active tag again clears the filter and returns to the full gallery. You can also type in the search field to find builds by title and tag together — the results update as you type.
Member Flair
Build cards from Buildopia members carry a gold ★ badge in the corner of the card. This is community flair, awarded to all active members and visible on every card they submit to the gallery.
Members can set a Username in the Membership tab of Settings. Once set, that name pre-fills the author field automatically every time they share a build — so the name on their cards is always consistent, even across different sessions or devices.
Liking a Build
Every build card has a heart icon. Tap it to like that build — the count updates immediately. Once you've liked a build, the heart stays filled and you can't like the same build again from this device.
Likes are device-specific, not account-specific. If you switch to a different browser or clear your data, your like history resets.
Loading a Build
Tap anywhere on a build card (other than the heart) to load it into your editor. Because loading a community build replaces your entire current build — grid dimensions, all blocks, everything — Buildopia always asks you to confirm before proceeding.
Once confirmed, the build loads just as if you had imported a .json file. You can then build on top of it, modify it, or use it as a reference — it becomes your build to do with as you like.
Sharing Your Build
Switch to the Share Yours tab to upload your current build publicly.
- Set your camera angle first. The thumbnail that appears on your build's card in the gallery is a capture of your current viewport. Position the camera at an angle that shows off your work before opening the Share panel.
- Enter a title. This appears below the thumbnail in the gallery and is the main way other players identify what they're looking at. Make it descriptive — "Small riverside cottage" is more useful than "My house".
- Enter your name (optional). If you leave this blank, the build is listed as Anonymous. There's no account system, so your name is just freeform text.
- Tap Share Build. The current build uploads along with your viewport thumbnail. Once shared, the build appears in the gallery immediately under Newest.
Shareable Links
Every build card in the community browser has a share button (🔗) alongside the heart. Tapping it copies a direct link to that specific build to your clipboard — something like https://buildopia.pages.dev/?build=42.
Anyone who opens that link goes straight to the app with that build pre-loaded, without needing to open the Community Builds browser or search for it. This makes it easy to share a specific build in a message, post, or Discord thread and have the recipient land exactly where you want them.
A Note on Moderation
Community Builds is a public gallery. If you come across anything that violates community standards, you can report it via the Contact page or through the Discord. Builds may be removed at the team's discretion.
