The Cursor Tool
BeginnerThe Cursor tool lets you manipulate blocks that are already placed — moving them to new positions, rotating them, copying them, and pasting copies elsewhere. It also includes a Multi Select mode for operating on whole rectangular regions at once. It's the primary tool for arrangement and fine-tuning work after the initial build phase.
Switching to Cursor
Click the Cursor tool in the sidebar (or press C). When Cursor is active, four sub-action buttons appear below in the sidebar: Move, Rotate, Copy, and Paste. Only one sub-action is active at a time.
Move
With Move selected, the workflow is two taps:
- Tap the block you want to move. It's picked up — visually lifted from the grid and held in the cursor.
- Tap the destination cell. The block is placed there.
Move stays active after placing, so you can immediately pick up another block without reselecting Move. There's no need to cycle back through the sidebar between moves.
If you tap an empty cell in step 1, nothing happens — you can only pick up a block that exists. If you tap the same cell for the destination (i.e., immediately tap again where you picked up from), the block returns to its original position.
Rotate
With Rotate selected, tap any block to turn it 90° clockwise around its vertical axis. Tap it again to keep rotating — each tap adds another 90°. Since four taps bring you back to the original orientation, you can always find the right facing by tapping through all options.
Rotate applies to the block's geometry. For directional shapes like Steps, Doors, Roofing slopes, and Pillars, rotation changes which way the shape faces. For symmetric shapes like standard Block, rotation has no visible effect.
Like Move, Rotate stays active between blocks — tap a second block without reselecting Rotate to rotate that one too.
Copy
Copy stores a block's shape, material, rotation, and colour tint in a clipboard. The workflow:
- Select Copy in the Cursor sub-actions.
- Tap a block. It's copied to the clipboard. The block itself is unchanged.
- Switch to Paste.
- Tap any cell to place a copy there.
The clipboard persists until you copy something else. You can paste from the same clipboard as many times as you like — tap multiple cells in Paste mode to place copies in each location without re-copying each time.
Paste
Paste places the block currently in the clipboard at the tapped cell. Like Move and Rotate, it stays active between placements — you can tap multiple cells in a row to paste the same block in multiple spots without switching back to Copy each time.
Paste uses the clipboard's stored rotation, so whatever facing the original block had when you copied it is what you get when you paste. If you need the pasted block to face a different direction, use Rotate after pasting.
Multi Select
For operations that span many blocks at once, switch from Single to Multi mode using the Single / Multi toggle that appears in the Cursor section of the sidebar when the Cursor tool is active.
Drawing a region
In Multi mode the workflow is two taps followed by a height confirmation:
- Tap one corner of your target region on the grid.
- Tap the opposite corner. The grid highlights the XZ footprint between the two points.
- A Selection Height panel appears. Set how many layers tall the selection should extend, and choose whether it grows Up or Down from the anchor layer. Confirm to finalise the 3D box.
Region actions
Once confirmed, a floating Region Selected panel appears with four actions:
- Copy — copies all blocks in the region to a multi-select clipboard, preserving their relative positions.
- Move — lifts the region; your next tap on the grid places the whole group anchored at the new point.
- Erase — removes every block in the region in one step. Undoable with Ctrl+Z.
- Paste — places the most recently copied multi-select region. Only available when a multi-select clipboard entry exists.
Mirror Symmetry & the Cursor Tool
If Mirror X or Mirror Z is enabled while you use Move, Rotate, Copy, or Paste, the mirrored action is automatically applied to the corresponding position on the other side of the axis. This means you can move one half of a symmetric structure and have the mirror side update automatically. See the Mirror Symmetry guide for details.
