Liquid & Nature
IntermediateTwo of Buildopia's shape tools — Nature and Liquid — have their own dedicated sidebar sections that appear when those shapes are active. Both have more controls than a typical shape, and Liquid in particular comes with a suite of utility tools beyond simple placement. This guide covers both fully.
The Nature Shape
Select Nature in the Shape section to reveal the Nature panel below. This section lists all the organic items you can place — no material palette search needed, since every Nature item is listed directly in the panel.
What's available
| Item | Footprint | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Berry Tree | Multi-cell | A fruit-bearing tree. Requires free space around the target cell. |
| Pointy Tree | Multi-cell | A tall conical tree (think pine or cypress silhouette). |
| Palm Tree | Multi-cell | A tropical palm with a curved trunk and frond canopy. |
| Shrub | Single cell | A low rounded bush. Places anywhere a standard block would. |
| Flowers | Single cell | A cluster of small flowers. Good for garden detail. |
| Grass | Single cell | A patch of tall grass. Good for wild or overgrown areas. |
| Vines | Single cell | A hanging vine cluster. Can be placed on walls or surfaces. |
| Boulder | 3×3 footprint | A large rounded rock. Needs a clear 3×3 area to place. |
| Small Coral | Single cell | A wide ruffled mushroom-cap shape on a short stem. Suited for underwater builds. |
| Tall Coral | Single cell | A cluster of tapered upward-branching fingers. Good for reef scenes. |
Placing Nature items
Single-cell items (Shrub, Flowers, Grass, Vines, Small Coral, Tall Coral) place exactly like a standard block — tap a cell and the item appears there. Multi-cell items (the three trees and Boulder) need a clear area around the target cell to accommodate their footprint. If there isn't enough clear space, the placement will fail silently — move to a location with more room.
Nature items can be erased with the Erase tool and moved or rotated with the Cursor tool, the same as any other block.
The Liquid Shape
Select Liquid in the Shape section to reveal the Liquid panel. This section has more controls than any other shape tool.
Liquid types
Choose from five liquid varieties:
| Type | Appearance |
|---|---|
| Fresh Water | Clear blue, typical for rivers and lakes. |
| Sea Water | Deeper teal-blue, suited for ocean and coastal builds. |
| Muddy Water | Brown and murky — swamps, flooded lowlands, and muddy rivers. |
| Hot Water | A steaming, slightly luminous appearance — hot springs and geothermal pools. |
| Lava | Bright orange-red with an emissive glow — volcanic terrain and underground chambers. |
The active type is highlighted and applies to every liquid block you place until you change it. You can have different liquid types in different areas of the same build.
Liquid level
Two level options control how full each liquid cell appears:
| Level | Fill height | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Low | 25% of cell height | Shallow water. Blocks placed inside the same cell will sit visibly above the surface — good for shallow streams or flooded floors with objects visible above the waterline. |
| High | 75% of cell height | Deep water. Creates a fuller-looking body of water where most of the cell appears submerged. |
Switch between levels freely at any point — you can mix Low and High liquid in the same build for varied water depths.
Cascade
Toggle Cascade on before placing a liquid source block and the liquid will automatically flow downhill from that source. It spreads horizontally when it hits a flat floor and fills lower cells as it descends. The cascade follows the natural slope of whatever terrain or structure is below it.
Erasing the source block drains the entire cascade — every cell that was part of that flow disappears at once. This makes it easy to reposition a waterfall or drainage feature: erase the source, reposition, and place it again.
Hide Liquid
The Hide Liquid toggle makes all liquid in the scene invisible without removing any of it. Toggle it on to see and work on the structure beneath the water; toggle it off and every liquid block reappears exactly as it was. Nothing is changed or deleted — it's purely a visibility toggle.
Erase Liquid
The Erase Liquid button removes every liquid block from the build in one action — useful when you want to start the water layout fresh or clear a flooded area entirely. This is permanent and cannot be undone, so use it when you're sure.
Flood
The Flood button drops a liquid source at every cell along the top layer of the grid and cascades it downward, filling the entire scene from above using your currently selected liquid type and level. The result is a fully flooded build — every open cell at or below the top layer fills with liquid.
This is the fastest way to create an ocean floor scene or a fully submerged build. Set the liquid type (Sea Water, for example), set the level, and tap Flood. The cascade fills everything. Use Hide Liquid afterward to inspect the structure underneath, or Erase Liquid to clear it and try a different approach.
